We quickly traced the issue to a hidden mains water leak buried under the front garden, running from the water meter to the house. However, Thames Water declined to assist since the leak was located within the customer's property boundary.
Tracing the leak
After successfully pinpointing the exact location of the leak with the help of specialized listening equipment, we proceeded to excavate the ground. Through this excavation process, we were able to uncover the 15mm water pipe that had burst, causing the issue with the water bill. This meticulous approach allowed us to access and repair the damaged pipe efficiently and effectively, ensuring that the problem was resolved with precision and expertise.
Customer Satisfaction
This picture illustrates the old carbon steel mains water pipe that had burst. In order to minimize costs, we opted to cut out the damaged section and replaced it with a poly pipe. However, in cases where cost is not a concern, we typically recommend replacing the entire mains water pipe from the water meter to the stopcock inside the house. This is especially common when dealing with lead pipes, as ensuring the integrity of the entire system is essential for long-term water supply efficiency and safety.
